We certify the dummy using the calibration test equipments in our test house. The test equipments and test method are specified with CFR 49, Parts 572. We also carry on our original test to check if the parts have high quality, that is enough durability, supplemental check for neglected performance, and of course for repeatability/ reproducibility.

Head Drop Test System
The head for ATD is structured by aluminum skull and PVC skin.
This test is for calibration for head performance.
Three axis of resultant acceleration and/or HIC (Head Injury Criteria) is measured using this equipment and it is ok to pass its test corridor.
The corridor is based on biofedelity from PMHS test data.

Neck Flex/Extention Test System
The neck for ATD consists of aluminum disk plate molded with rubber and wire cable.
You can control neck behavior at some extent by tight/loosen the cable torque.
The neck test is required for a variety of items, not only its performance (angle, moment etc.)
but also test conditions (speed, deceleration etc.).

Thorax Impact Test System
The thorax behavior is mainly effective by its rib performance in this calibration test.
The rib for ATD consists of steel with damping material.
Of course not only the ribs but also the lumbar spine, chest jacket and test condition is influenced for this test results.
The test impact probe should be changed for each different dummy.

Hip Joint Test System
The pelvis for ATD consists of aluminum bone, urethane flesh and PVC skin.
And bronze femurs are assembled. Femur has urethane bumper to prevent the metal contact between femur and bone.
This calibration requires the behavior of pelvis bending, which is related with PVC thickness/hardness and interference between femur (bumper) and pelvis.

Torso Flexion Test
Some of the dummy parts relate to this test results, performance of lumbar spine and abdominal insert,
interference between chest jacket and pelvis. And this test is not required for H-Ⅲ50th percentile male dummy.

Foot Impact Test System
Upper and Lower foot impact is required. The foot for ATD consists of steel bone and PVC skin,
and foam pad is inserted in heel.
For upper impact, not only the foot but also the ankle bumper affects the test results.
For lower impact, with/without shoe test is required.
